Retirement Time

May 30, 2018

This week marks the start of retirement for Bob Bowie, Department of Public Works Superintendent in the Village of Oriskany Falls. He began working for the village in 1996 part-time and then started full-time in 1999. At the Village Board meeting May 21, Mayor Steve Jeffers read a declaration that Oneida County proclaimed the day Robert Bowie Day for his service, which includes the Oriskany Falls Fire Department since 1980 (two-time Firefighter of the Year). Bowie also spent 20 years as the announcer for Waterville varsity football games. The village celebrated his service last week with gifts and half moon cookies. While Bowie retires, his name will remain as superintendent. His son Matt, who also works for the village, will take the position as of June 1.
