Clinton FD Installs New Officers

May 23, 2018

Outgoing Clinton Fire Department chief Bill Huther gave credit to every department member for their service to area residents.

“It’s really been a privilege to be the chief,” Huther said, “but this is really more about everybody who responds to the calls. The community is really blessed to have this dedication and commitment to the department. They do amazing things every day.”

Huther, who has been with the department for 30 years, plus another seven with Lairdsville before that, recalled his own motivation for becoming a firefighter was seeing friends who were members before him. It just “seemed like the right thing to do,” Huther said.

One of the lasting memories of his time as chief will be the floods the department faced during recent years. The area saw not one but three separate “100-year” flood events since 2011.
