Area fire departments responded to the mutual aid call by the Barton Hose Co. in Deansboro at 7 a.m. Sunday to a house fire on Route 315 at Brothertown Road corner. The fire in the farmhouse, owned by Robert and Mary Lou Buschor, resulted in the death of Mary Lou, who was often seen herding the family’s dairy cows across Route 315 twice a day. Robert Buschor was burned when he tried to rescue his wife from the house. Joining Deansboro at the scene were departments from Clinton, Waterville, Oriskany Falls and Vernon Center, along with Central Oneida County Ambulance, NYSEG, Oneida County Sheriff’s Department and New York State Police. Waterville firefighter Mike Roys chops through a second floor window as smoke and flames engulf the house.
